What Makes Michael Tick?
Instead of filling this space with a list of accomplishments, I’ve decided to share with you some character traits that make me a valuable resource for you. You can click below to see a listing of experiences, awards, and accomplishments. For now, I think it is much more meaningful to share these traits so you can see if your values match mine. I’ve found over the years, that if my values are a good fit with my clients, we can accomplish much together and have a good time doing it.

I'm Curious
I’ve always been incredibly curious. I was the kid opening up the ball point pen to see how it worked. Do you know why it clicks up and down? My curiosity about why some of my businesses worked very smoothly and others were a lot of hard work has given me a lot of the insight that I share with you when we are solving problems together. I want to know what works and what doesn’t work in your business and I especially want to know why.
I'm Innovative
Yes, everyone claims to be innovative. I can't help myself: I just have a built-in need to make things better. When I decided to make a Caffe Latte fudge in my candy store, I spent six months making a recipe and tweaking each new batch. Real coffee. Ground coffee. Instant coffee. More water. Less mixing. Instant Cappucino. A little better each time until one day the customers oohed and ahhed over it. After a day of “Oh my God’s,” I knew I had it right. That’s the way I am with my clients. I will work with you and make adjustments until we have your business just right; until you say “Oh my God, I didn’t know it could be so good!”
I'm Flexible
I guess it goes along with curiosity and innovation. I don’t believe there is one right answer for everyone. We will try what I think is best for your current situation. If that doesn’t work or if the way I work with you doesn’t work, we will try another way. There are thousands of ways to make a business successful. I will find the ways that work for you.
I'm Tenacious
When people meet me, they often see a laid back and very calm looking individual. What they don’t see immediately, but come to understand, is my tenacity. I won’t give up on a situation. I believe there is always a way. When I started Boy Scouts later than most boys and in a new town, it didn’t look likely that I’d achieve much. But I steadily worked towards merit badges and awards. As I turned 17, with just one year left, it didn’t look good for me to become an Eagle Scout, the highest scouting achievement. I sat down with my dad and we looked at what I needed and we made a plan. The plan included going to summer camp and missing a week of work that summer -- work that meant a lot to me. During summer camp I earned 7 required merit badges and got the leadership experience I needed for Eagle.
The rest of the year I focused my efforts, and one by one checked off the badges I needed. I planned, organized and completed my community service project just weeks before my 18th birthday. I’d made it. And I’d learned what tenacity and wanting something is all about. I bring this to my work with you, knowing that you are just as tenacious about your business as I am about helping you make it the best it can be.
I'm Focused
When I’m working with you, I’m focused entirely on your success. You have a lot going on. Many different needs are pulling at your attention. I bring an incredible amount of focus to your situation. I’ve had people talk about my laser beam stare. I don’t get distracted and help you get focused as well.
That’s what my work with you is all about. Using curiosity, innovation, tenacity, and focus to make your business be the best it can be, the way you want it to be.
